Task 9 Part 2

Favourite halloween costume has to be a zombie ! All types are brilliant and without makeup they would not be able to look as scary, gory and disgusting! Makeup plays the biggest part in becoming a zombie because you can really wear whatever you want !

Task 9 Part 1

In groups , Donald asked us to create a halloween image for him, his wife and his 2 year old son using a priced budget ! My group and I decided on the theme Mario, as in Mario Brothers. For Donald we made him Mario, for his wife we created an outfit for princess peach, and for his son we decided to make him up as Yoshi ! We managed to stay within the price limit :)

The history of Makeup

Makeup originally comes from the ancient egyptians. They used to use copper and lead to create the world first cosmetic! Now we have the scientifically advanced products that can cover pores, eliminate dark circles and smooth complextions. Makeup has been a part of humankind for thousands of years! (i didnt know it was that long :o!!) Over the years woman have used burnt matches to darken their eyes and berries to stain their lips. They even used little boys urine to fade their freckles. Many woman have put theresleves at risk with many of their homemade cosmetics. In some cultures, for example, women used arsenic, lead, mercury, and even leeches to give themselves the pale appearance deemed beautiful in the old days. Thankfully, we've come a long way from the days of using toxic and deadly mixtures to enhance our looks. Today's multibillion dollar cosmetic industry must meet strict government regulations about what it can and cannot include in products and must follow safe manufacturing guidelines. Yet, despite decades of safety testing and a safety record unparalleled in many industries, there are many myths circulating about the dangers of cosmetic ingredients.

I love the make up that Margie Durand has done in the movie the Black Swan, it goes so well with the caracter being played and the makeup is ellegant and not over done.

I really like the makeup n the grinch, i think its amazing how they can change the entire face and character of one person just by using makeup ! The makeup in this film was done by a man called Rick Baker and he has done a fantastic job.

 

The makeup in thirteen ghosts looks incredible. It has been done so well and the characters in the film look really scary. I really like the way the makeup team have done this makeup! The makeup was done by a team of makeup artists altough the head artist was Victoria Dawn.

 

I love the way Jane Atherton has done Christina Aguileras makeup in Moulin Rouge! It is different to the others and more out there. It is more glamourous and really makes her look the part !

 

 

In the movie Snowwhite and the Huntsman, the makeup is done brilliantly to match with the whole set and costume of the witch ! She looks brilliant and the makeup has definetly changed the character of the actress. The makeup was done by Sophie Slotover.

Not only is the jokers makeup excellent and plays a big part of the entire character look but so does the wig ! It helps to complete the look and makes him look the part !

This is great wig that they used in Charlie and the chocolate factory , it's funky colourful and funny and looks great!

I like this wig they use in Edward scissor hands , it's messy and dirty looking which completes the whole character !

What were your expectations on starting the course?

My expectations on starting the course was for it to be creative and mostly practical workwhich i think it is.

What are your initial thoughts on JWC and the course?

The college itself is great , you have everything you need and its all available within the college. The course is a bit unorganised although it is fun and always interested.

What is your funniest moment so far?

Laura Straiton face painted as a witch! She looked and asked like one !

What is the most interesting thing you have learned?

Everything to do with special effects has been really interesting and there is alot more involved than i thought there was.

Who is your makeup idol?

Mario Dedivanovic! He is the makeup artist of Kim Kardashian and always does a great job. He always makes her makeup so flawless and can make her look great casual or glammed up !

 

Why do you want to be a Makeup Artists?

 

I have always wanted to be in the makeup industry and love applying peoples makeup ! I like the thought of making someone feel good and look good! When looking in different magazines i look at some of the fashion and glamour make up and would love to be able to do it myself.

 

 



Cult beauty product

The makeup product I can't live without is mascara ! It opens up the eyes which changes the whole face ! My favourite is benefit mascara "there real" it lengthens the eyelashes to the extreme and does this with no clumping ! Here is a link to the reviews
